Happy National Nurses Week!

Governor Otter proclaims May 6-12 to be National Nurses Week
- Governor "Butch" Otter has issued a proclamation recognizing the week of May 6-12, 2012 to be National Nurses Week in Idaho.  The weeklong celebration provides an opportunity to honor the dedication and commitment of the more than 17,500 registered nurses in Idaho and to raise awareness of the vital role nurses play in meeting the healthcare needs of the American people. Sponsored by the American Nurses Association (ANA), National Nurses Week begins each year on May 6th and ends on May 12th, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession. May 6th is RN Recognition Day, and the 3.1 million registered nurses nationwide are encouraged to wear their school pin and/or their nurse’s uniform that day and throughout the week. This year’s theme is Nurses: Advocating, Leading, Caring, which captures the many roles nurses fulfill. The Idaho Nurses Association is proud to join the ANA and Governor Otter in acknowledging registered nurses this week for the quality work they provide seven days a week, 365 days a year.
